GORB World

Last updated: September 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to GORB World. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. It applies to the GORB World app on Android and iOS. By using the app, you agree to this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account information and phone verification

When you create an account or sign in, we use your phone number to verify that the number belongs to you and to protect your account. Verification may happen through a brief call or a one-time SMS code, depending on your location, network, or device. This is required for account access and security.

We process this authentication data for identity verification, account security, fraud prevention, and account recovery.

Profile name

When you create a profile we collect your first and last name. This is required so other people in your meetups can identify you.

Optional email

You may add an email address on your profile. We use it only to run your account and to reply if you contact support. We do not use it for marketing.

India CNAP / telecom verification data

For users in India, where supported by telecom operators and law, we may process telecom-provided identity signals (including, where available, a KYC-verified calling-name signal via CNAP) during authentication and abuse-prevention checks. We use this data only for security, trust, and platform safety purposes.

Contact information

If you allow Contacts access, we read your device address book on that device so you can organize people in GORB and send event invitations. We do not upload your full address book.

After you consent, we upload phone numbers (not phone-book names) for people you put on a GORB list—favorites you can invite or be invited by, and people you exclude from invites. Phone-book names stay on the device. If you add a contact by hand, we store the name and number you typed so that contact can follow your account.

Contacts and multiple devices. We do not copy one device's phone book to another device. If you sign in on a new phone, allow Contacts there to match that phone's address book. Contacts you add by hand (and organizer-provided contacts) follow your account. Your list choices (such as favorites) are stored on our servers and still count toward plan limits even if a device does not show them. To free a favorite slot, move that person to Red or Black in the app.

Uploaded contact data is used only to organize those lists and to send or receive meetup invitations—not for advertising or tracking. When you send an invite, the people you invite may see what is needed for that invite (for example, that they were invited to an event).

Events and invitations

When you create events or send invitations, we store that information so the app can work—for example, so invitees can see and respond to your invites.

Photos

You may optionally add a profile photo and photos on events you create. We store those images so they can be shown in the app.

In-app support messages

If you send a support request in the app, we store the category, subject, message, and a support ID so we can reply.

Purchases

If you buy a Ranger or Traveler subscription or a Paika pack, Apple or Google processes the payment. We receive purchase history from the store and RevenueCat (for example, which plan you have and Paika credits) so we can unlock those features. GORB never sees your card number.

City and location

We may estimate your city from your internet connection when you use the app. If you choose "Use my current location," we ask for device location permission and use it to suggest a city. If you enable travel updates (where available), we may update your selected city when you travel. We store your selected city, not a history of where you have been.

Usage and technical information

We collect information about how the app is used (for example, that you logged in or used a feature) and technical information (such as crash reports) to fix problems and improve the app. This information is not tied to your name, phone number, or other identifying details—we use it only in a way that does not identify you personally.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to provide and improve GORB World: to run your account, organize contacts, manage events and invites, keep the app secure, and fix issues. We do not sell your personal information. We may use service providers to help us run the app; they are required to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.

Itemized data purposes

  • Phone number: identity verification, account security, fraud prevention, and account recovery.
  • Profile name: required so other people in your meetups can identify you.
  • Optional email: account and support replies only — not marketing.
  • Contact data (if permission is granted): phone numbers of people you organize in GORB are uploaded to our servers so you can invite favorites to events and meetups. Phone-book names stay on the device.
  • Optional photos: profile and event images shown in the app.
  • In-app support messages: so we can reply to your request.
  • Purchase history: from Apple or Google and RevenueCat, to unlock Ranger, Traveler, and Paika. GORB never sees your card number.
  • Location / city signals (where used): facilitating meetup relevance and nearby discovery features.
  • Technical and usage data: reliability, debugging, abuse prevention, and service quality.

We do not share your phone number or consent data with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. We only share limited data with service providers that help us run essential app functions, such as authentication, security, and infrastructure, under contractual safeguards.

4. Data Security

We prioritize the security of your data by using industry-standard encryption. All personal information, including phone numbers and contact metadata, is encrypted in transit via Transport Layer Security (TLS) and stored securely using Firebase's encrypted-at-rest infrastructure. We do not sell your data to third parties or use your contact list for marketing purposes.

5. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your information while your account is active. If you delete your account in the app, we remove your data from the app and may keep limited information for up to 30 days for legal and operational reasons, then delete it. Data on your device is cleared when you delete your account.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You can delete your account at any time in the app. You can also request account and data deletion on the web: Request account deletion. You can contact us to request access to your data, request a copy (export), or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example, to correct your data or object to certain uses). We do not use your information for third-party advertising. You can revoke access to your contacts in your device settings at any time; the app may not work fully without it.

For users in India, rights under applicable data protection law (including access, correction, and erasure rights) can be exercised through the channels in the Contact Us section below. Our account deletion controls are designed to be straightforward to find and use.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date and post the new policy here. We may also notify you in the app. Using GORB World after changes means you accept the updated policy.

8. Contact Us

For questions, to request a copy of your data, or to ask for deletion, contact us at support@gorb.world. To request deletion of your account and data, you can also use our dedicated page: Request account deletion.
